Renewable Energy Resources

Wind

Wind turbines are now a common site in many parts of the world. Although they do not emit any carbon dioxide or greenhouse gases they only work when the wind is blowing.

Solar

Solar farms, with banks of photovoltaic cells, generate electricity from sunlight.

Geothermal

In certain parts of the world water can be pumped undergorund where it is heated up by the hot rocks there, turning it into steam which then turns turbines.

Tidal, Wave and Hydroelectric

These are all ways to capture the energy stored in water that is moving or higher than its surroundings.
